Jerusalem [Israel], August 15: Tel Aviv University (TAU) on Sunday launched Israel's first scholarship program for international student athletes.
The initiative will enable elite athletes from around the world to study and train at TAU's advanced sports facilities, boosting Israeli sports performance, said a statement issued by TAU.
The university's Sports Scholarship Fund will thus provide full degree support for talented athletes between the ages of 17 and 30 each year.
Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to study or research in any of TAU International's over 20 English-taught programs and train at the University's sports facilities, according to the statement.
Recipients will be expected to participate in elite Israeli sports, for example, competing for the country in international competitions, it noted.
