Hanoi [Vietnam], March 19: Quoc Truong said he doesn't understand why every time he appears with a female colleague - whether just for a meal or a photoshoot - rumors of them dating arise. The actor hopes that the audience will stop speculating to avoid affecting those involved, and affirmed that if there is any good news, he will announce it.
On the afternoon of March 18th, the producers of the film "A Time We Loved" held a press conference to introduce the project. The event was attended by director Nguyen Xuan Nghia and the cast, including Quynh Thy, Quoc Truong , Quoc Huy, Le Khanh, Phat Dat, Ngoc Nga, Ngoc Boi, Pham Thanh An, Truong Quoc Anh, and others.
Quoc Truong hopes people will stop spreading rumors about his dating life.
The project is produced and invested in by Quynh Thy, who plays the female lead, and directed by Nguyen Xuan Nghia. Actors Quoc Truong and Quoc Huy play the male leads in the film. At the event, Quoc Truong frankly addressed the frequent rumors of "on-screen romance turning into real-life love" with his female co-stars.
The actor shared: "I don't understand why rumors spread about who I'm with, who I'm standing with, even just for a promotional photoshoot. I see many actors are like me, interacting well with their co-stars, but only I get the rumors. I think maybe it's because I'm single, getting older and haven't started a family yet, so people are expecting something. They spread rumors about who I'm with or who I'm eating with. I don't mind it, but I feel sorry for the girls who are the subject of these rumors, and I hope people will stop spreading them. When there's official good news, I'll announce it."
According to Quoc Truong, the reason he is often praised for his chemistry with his co-stars is because he has had many life experiences. The actor said he has been independent since childhood, earning money since the 5th grade and has spent 17 years building his career in Ho Chi Minh City. Having worked in many different environments, from business to filmmaking, each stage has given him unique lessons and skills, helping him become more open, sociable, and easily build rapport with others.
The actor from "Go Home, My Son" said he always proactively connects with all his co-stars to build intimacy and trust when playing a role. Whether they are famous stars or new faces, he tries to maintain a fun and harmonious working atmosphere, considering it the foundation for creating chemistry on screen. The 8X actor said that with experienced co-stars, he almost doesn't have to worry much because as soon as they get into the scene, they can both get along and perform their roles well. Conversely, with new faces, Quoc Truong is more proactive in interacting with them in real life. He often jokes around, texts, and chats to build familiarity before filming romantic scenes.
"As in this film, the director made me and Quynh Thy text each other a lot, chatting every day like lovers or close friends so that we could be intimate on screen. Director Nghia is very demanding and meticulous. I've worked with around 20 directors, and he's one of the three most demanding directors I've ever met," Quoc Truong recounted.
Quỳnh Thy doesn't prioritize business aspects when making films.
The project "Once We Loved" also marks the return of Quynh Thy after many years living and working in the US. The actress poured a lot of heart into the film, taking on the roles of investor, producer, and participating in post-production. Quynh Thy said she didn't prioritize the business aspect of this film. This is a heartfelt project, and she believes in the talent of director Nguyen Xuan Nghia, which is why she chose to invest in it.
"This is the first time director Nguyen Xuan Nghia and Quynh Thy have come to Vietnam to make a film. Many people have wondered why Quynh Thy is taking on two roles. The primary reason is still her love for cinema, and her desire to support Mr. Nghia in bringing his very heartfelt 'brainchild' to Vietnamese audiences. During the pre-production phase of the film, Quynh Thy also received support and encouragement from senior colleagues, so she decided to take on the lead female role as well," she shared.
The film "Once We Loved" was filmed in the coastal region of Phu Yen with many nostalgic settings, featuring a cast including Quynh Thy, Quoc Huy, Quoc Truong, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, People's Artist Le Khanh, Lanh Thanh, Ngoc Nga, Phat Dat... and is scheduled to be released nationwide from May 15th.
