Seoul [South Korea], June 16:North Korea fired a possible ballistic missile on Thursday towards the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan, the South korean general staff and Japanese government said.
It was not immediately clear how far the missile had flown.
North Korea is prohibited from launching ballistic missiles of all kinds by UN resolutions. Following a series of missile tests last year, the isolated country has tested nuclear-capable missiles this year as well.
It has accused South Korea and the United States of pursuing hostile policies.
