Doha [Qatar], August 24: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) announced that the changes resulting from the FTSE Russell Global Equity Index Series September 2026 Semi-Annual Review will take effect for the Qatari market at the close of trading on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
According to a statement issued by QSE, the latest review resulted in the deletion of Mosanada Facilities Management Services and QLM Life and Medical Insurance from the Micro Cap Segment of the FTSE Russell index series.
No Qatari companies were added to the index or reclassified during the September 2026 review cycle, leaving the overall composition of the Qatari market unchanged apart from the two deletions.
QSE noted that the changes announced by FTSE Russell remain subject to revision until the close of business on Friday, September 4, 2026. The changes will be considered final from Monday, September 7, 2026, before becoming effective at the close of trading on September 17.
The FTSE Russell Global Equity Index Series is widely followed by international investors and forms an important reference point for global investment portfolios. Its emerging-market indices are tracked by asset managers and investment funds seeking exposure to developing economies, including Qatar.
Changes to index constituents can be closely watched by investors because funds that track or benchmark against the relevant indices may adjust their portfolios to reflect the revised composition. Such changes can therefore influence trading activity and investor flows in affected securities around the effective date.
The latest review comes as Qatar continues to strengthen its position in global emerging-market investment portfolios. The country's inclusion in major international equity benchmarks provides international investors with a framework for assessing and gaining exposure to listed Qatari companies.
For the Qatari market, the September review is relatively limited in scope, with no new companies entering the FTSE Russell series and no existing Qatari companies being reclassified. The removal of Mosanada Facilities Management Services and QLM Life and Medical Insurance from the Micro Cap Segment therefore represents the principal change arising from the review.
Market participants will continue to monitor the finalisation of the review changes in early September before their implementation on September 17.
