Seoul [South Korea], June 17: The ruling Workers' Party of Korea of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) opened the 8th enlarged plenary meeting of its 8th Central Committee on Friday, the state news agency reported Saturday.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, attended the session.
The plenary meeting will review the work of all sectors, including the economic sectors, in the first half of 2023 for implementing the resolutions of the 6th and 7th plenary meetings of the 8th Party Central Committee and take relevant measures, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
The KCNA said the meeting will also discuss and decide the policies of weighty significance including the issue of strengthening the Party and building the state and the state's diplomatic as well as defense strategies to cope with the changing international situation.
Also on Friday, RodongSinmun, the official newspaper of the DPRK, issued an article lauding the party's leadership role in the country's construction and development.
